Q: What is the difference between
vacuum wigs prostheses and wigs?

A: A wig is manufactured using a nylon or polyester
mesh. Wigs can be custom-made or pre-made. Wigs
can be worn by anyone regardless of the amount of hair
loss. Prostheses are skin-tight, shaped specifically
to the head of the individual, and can only be worn with
no hair--either total hair loss, or a completely shaved head.
Wigs are very durable, last a long time and are the most
affordable.  However, they do not form well to the head, must be attached with tape and the base is visible. Wig bases don’t breathe well, causing itchiness and they must be washed more often than a prosthesis.
